J&S Auto Repair is the only auto service shop in Warwick that you need for your automobile. Our experienced and certified technicians can take care of your automobile to keep it safe and reliable. One of the services we offer is brake services. If your brakes are doing any of the following things, bring your vehicle to our shop right away for brake repair.

Brake Noises

Your brakes should not make noise when you press down on the brake pedal. The only thing you should hear is your engine slowing down. If you hear grinding or squealing noises, there may be a problem with the brake pads or the brakes may be overheating, respectively.

Fluid Leak

Brake fluid is brown or red. It can leak from the master cylinder or the brake hoses. Generally, if the brake system has sprung a leak, you will see fluid spots near your tires. Low brake fluid can make stopping your vehicle difficult, so come to our shop right away.

Hot Odors

As we mentioned above, your brakes will make strange noises when they are overheating. Specifically, they will squeal. You will also smell burning odors. These odors will waft from the brakes. Hot brake fluid smells like burning chemicals. Glazed brake pads smell like burning carpet.

Movement

Another thing that should not happen when you apply the brakes is your vehicle should not vibrate or shake. If it does, the calipers may have road debris stuck in them. You may also have a problem with the rotor surfaces. They can warp after years of being rubbed against the brake pads.

Pulling

If your vehicle starts to change directions when you apply the brakes, the caliper on the wheel in which your automobile pulls is stuck. You may need to replace the calipers if they start to stick.

Softness

A soft feeling from the brake pedal can indicate that the brake lines have air bubbles in the fluid. We will need to bleed the lines to get the bubbles out of the fluid. A squishy brake pedal can also indicate that it is time to replace the master cylinder.

Warning Light

Finally, you will get a dashboard warning light if the brake system is going bad. The light will either be the ABS or Brake light.
