Remember the phrase, “Where the rubber meets the road?” Well, your tires are literally the only part of your car that should contact the road. In order to be able to stop and start properly, you need tires that grip. J&S Auto Repair can help you find the right tires. We are a family owned and operated business in Warwick, Rhode Island whose mission is to serve our customers and make auto repair simple, clear, and easy.

Critical Grip

Whether you are driving on dry pavement, sand, ice or snow, you need good tires to start, stop, and maintain direction in your vehicle. Tires provide the basis for all movement in your car, receiving the power your engine produces to move your car, so you need your tires safe to keep you safe. J&S Automotive has a great selection of name brand tires that you can trust to keep you on the road.

How do I know I have a Tire Issue?

Tire issues pop up in subtle and obvious ways. Most vehicles are equipped with tire pressure monitor sensors to tell you how much air is in your tires and if you need more air. You need to be within the correct pounds per square inch (PSI) range to have the best grip and the most even wear.

Tires do lose some air in very cold weather, but other causes of air loss can be objects like nails, screws or other metal that are jammed in the tire and cause a slow leak.

One very obvious sign of an immediate tire issue is a blowout. Blowouts can be a bit scary as they often result in a loss of speed and possible loss of control of your vehicle. Blowouts are either the result of extremely worn tires or a tire puncture caused by something on the road. While one can usually tell if a tire is very worn with their eyes, measuring the tread with a tire tread gauge provides the most accurate indicator with a minimum tread depth of 2/32”.

Seeing a problem coming is not always easy. That’s why we recommend bringing your vehicle into J&S Automotive for a regular oil change, tire rotation, and tire inspection, especially before winter.
